Veneers – what are they?

Veneers can be used to improve the colour, shape and spacing of your teeth, and also to fix damaged, cracked or broken teeth; they are widely available with certified Nottingham dentists but treatment like a cosmeticdentistryguide.co.uk/articles/root-canal.html would need to be carried out beforehand. They are wafer thin, tooth-coloured laminates which are cemented onto the tooth. They can be made of porcelain or composite bonding material. Porcelain is quite a bit more expensive than composite bonding material, but it does tend to last longer and gives a more natural finish.

What is involved?

After your consultation, the dentist will give you a local anaesthetic and then begin reshaping the teeth. The dentist will remove a portion from the front of the tooth which is the same thickness as the veneer. Next, impressions will be taken to be sent off to a lab where they use them as a guide to make veneers that fit your teeth perfectly. This can take up to three weeks and your dentist might give you temporary veneers while you’re waiting (but not all dentists offer these). When your veneers are ready, the dentist will clean and roughen the surface of your teeth to create a good surface to bond to. This is done with an acid gel. The veneers are then put into place and held with dental cement, and then a curing light is used to activate the cement so that the veneers stay put. Any excess will be trimmed away and you will have a lovely white smile!

Things to note

Veneers need to be replaced fairly regularly so you may want to make sure you’re not with a dental guide to practice sales as then you would have to look elsewhere; every five to ten years with porcelain and every two years or so with composite bonding material. However, they are a permanent fixture because the tooth has to be altered to have them put on. Veneers can fall off, but this shouldn’t happen often. If it does, keep hold of the veneer and the dentist will cement it back into place.

CEREC dentistry is rapid

CEREC, otherwise known as Ceramic Reconstruction, is a very high-tech dental system that’s been developed over the years. Ordinarily, when getting a crown, veneer or something similar you would have to visit your dentist at least twice, and he’d take a mould of your teeth so he could prepare the replacement tooth over a period of weeks. The difference between this traditional method and CEREC is time. The CEREC system gets the job done on the spot, in one visit. Instead of a mould being taken, digital imagery is used, and dental machinery then builds or ‘mills’ an appropriate tooth for you.

CEREC is a great option for people who want to spend as little time at the dentist as possible, and who don’t have the time to wait. Of course, CEREC can be more expensive than you would expect of the average crown, veneer or otherwise. CEREC teeth can cost around £700 per tooth, but you can also expect the CEREC teeth to last for considerably longer, as the materials used and the process itself makes for stronger veneers, crowns, fillings or inlays. I know for sure that the treatment is available at Reading dentists, and probably in lots of other areas too. If you value your time enough to want to pay a little extra for a quicker dental procedure that’s completely state-of-the-art, CEREC might be for you.

Benefits of electric toothbrush

No one actually enjoys the moments of thinking whether the teeth are properly clean and whether our toothpaste and mouthwash were enough to provide a good breath. Imagine all those bacteria, happily residents of our healthy teeth and mouth, but somehow it seems we can never do it quite enough.

One of the main reasons is that the ordinary, old-fashioned toothbrush will never reach areas where invisible pieces of food remain – under our gum and those unreachable places between our teeth, where even flossing will not be sufficient. We may brush and brush until our teeth get too sensitive but the satisfaction is still not there.

Once a fancy and costly item, the solution is the electric toothbrush, available to everyone today. When used properly, it will provide cleaner teeth and a breath you can rely on.

In combination with smartly chosen toothpaste and a mouthwash, the results will always be there.

Today’s tooth hygiene products are available on market in their variety of prices and designs, allowing us to choose whichever suit our best.

Electrical toothbrush, in comparison to the ordinary one, provides it all in one – in most cases, you will not need additional flossing and peaking into the mirror to find out for yourself if there is something between your teeth! The indisputable advantage is there from the first proper use. Forget those lasting and boring moments you need to spend brushing your teeth and forget about painful gums, which are quite often the result of the use of an ordinary toothbrush. There is no mentioning in comparison of price and time of usage – you must change your ordinary toothbrush at least once a month, while an electric toothbrush lasts much, much longer. It is a valuable item in our cosmetic bag and we should not be afraid even if we forget our toothpaste or mouthwash. The electric toothbrush will take care of what matters, and that is the remains of food, which actually cause the stains on our teeth and, even worse, the bad breath.

First on the market few decades ago, modern electric toothbrushes are not significantly changed, except they are less costly, available to everyone and with exchangeable heads, which makes it even more cost effective – in time, just remove the existing rotating head and put a fresh, new one.

There are varieties of electric toothbrushes on the market, both in design and application, such as sonic, pulsating, oscillating and others. The dental technology of today strives to perfection in providing us with a healthy mouth and beautiful smile.

In comparison to the ordinary one, properly selected electric toothbrush will provide us a means of full dental care. Along with our favorite toothpaste and mouthwash, it will surely reduce our costs of going to dentist, and we are all aware how costly that is.

Every electric toothbrush today will provide extensive dental and gum care, along with sufficient safety unease people might have if using it for the first time.

A thing we should never forget is that we all went to the dentist some time ago to clean our teeth properly every now and then. Today, with a modern electric toothbrush, dentists are close to history, since this device provides professional cleaning. With your electric toothbrush, you will feel as if you just left your dentist’s office after extensive and costly professional cleaning.

Manual wash will never allow the same movement of bristles and the depth of cleansing.

Whoever wants to stop thinking about that tiny, but frustrating piece stuck after a meal or even worse, a bad breath, electric toothbrush is what you are looking for.

Dental implants; they can give you a new set of natural feeling teeth, or just one tooth

This way of replacing a damaged or rogue tooth, or even several at once, is a brilliant innovation in dental science and cosmetic surgery. The research was first carried out in Sweden and the U.K. in the 1950s and 60s, the discovery of a natural occurrence of bone fusion then made the implants possible. They are made of titanium which is a non-ferrous and hard wearing metal, the most popular and successful type is the Endosteal Implant which can facilitate one or several teeth in a line. Patients have to go through tests first to qualify and they must have a strong, wide and healthy jaw bone to take the plate. A dentist will take digital x-rays and photos of the area to determine if the patient is fine for the implant. Most people qualify, and those that don`t can have a bone graft if necessary. The dentists will then cut into the gum and open it enough to allow them to slid the implants (plate) into position, then fix it down with self tapping screws, in some cases they will attach studs to the plate and drill holes in the jaw bone to take them, these are glued in. The cut is stitched using micro thread and the next stage is left to proceed. This next stage is quite unique as nature will now take over; the process is the fusion of the plate to the bone itself and is called Osseointergration, where the bone grows over the plate. This can take up to six months, but is usually around 4 months. The dental surgeon will then attach the studs to the plate; these will hold the actual false teeth onto the plate, permanently. These are called abutments and again they are made of titanium, the surgeon will need to re-cut the gum line in order to do this operation under a local anaesthetic. The tooth is now ready to be made, and using the photos taken at the beginning, an orthodontist will sculpture one to look, act and perform like the original tooth. The final stage is the fitting of the teeth implants onto the abutment, to do this the dental surgeon will just slid in on and glue it at the same time. The patient will need a few weeks to get adjusted to chewing with their new molars, but they will last a long time and won’t need any special looking after.

Diabetes and Dental Problems

Diabetes is a condition that predisposes an individual to various health problems. One of the leading problem caused by diabetes is the dental problems. Individuals suffering from diabetes are at a very high risk of developing mouth or oral infections. Diabetes lowers body’s self defence against bacteria, fungi, etc.

With the development of mouth infection, the gums start to swell and give a red appearance. Both the gums and teeth are prone to become sore with brushing or flossing. Slowly and gradually these benign symptoms turn into a more aggressive problem known as periodontitis. Periodontitis is a very severe condition, which is basically an infection that affects both the gums and bones. The bones affected are the jaw bones that hold the teeth in place.

As the problem gets worse, the gum lines start to recede and the teeth appear longer. Finally, the individual starts to lose their teeth with bleeding from the mouth, weight loss, as well as development of thrush, etc. Therefore, it is very important to control diabetes before it becomes a threat to oral hygiene.

Now, what needs to be done to control your blood sugars?

1. There are various steps that one can undertake to control diabetes, which include:

2. Regular monitoring of blood glucose.

3. Make a log book to note down blood glucose levels, which will serve as a guide to better understand the fluctuations in the blood glucose levels.

4. This log book must be shared with your physician so that he is able to make appropriate plans.

5. It is very important to be compliant taking the medications prescribed by the doctor at right time and right amount.

It is important to follow all the above steps to better regulate blood glucose levels.

Along with excellent diabetes control, it is important to care for oral health and hygiene at best.

Note: Your Reading dentist must know that you are diabetic.

How Would I know If My London Dental Implants Failed to Work?

London dental implants very rarely fail. However, in some instances, London Dental Implants will fail to work properly in a few instances. For example, if patients forget to follow the post-procedural operations set forth by their orthodontists. Usually, this happens because patients smoke, drink excessively or try to chew food at the site of the dental implants.

On the other hand, London dental implants can also fail because the area round the gums or jawbone can not sufficiently support the dental implants. This does not happen often if the proper preparations were made. However if it does happen, orthodontists will tell their patients about this during the preparations for the second-phase surgery. This happens approximately six to eight weeks after the initial surgery to install London dental implants. Therefore, patients should wait at least that long before beginning to worry about the success of their dental implants.

As you can see, it is not easy to quickly determine if London dental implants fail to work. As a result, allow yourself plenty of time to recover from your surgery before asking your orthodontist any questions about the success of the procedure. It can only help you succeed in using London dental implants.

THE USE OF CROWNS IN DENTISTRY FOR COSMETIC AND HEALTH REASONS

Crowns of all types are used by Nottingham dentists for a variety of dental reasons in concluding a dental procedure. Crowns are commonly used to finish a root canal after the tooth has been prepped and cleaned out, to close off the exposed tooth. Crowns are also used in cosmetic dentistry to enhance the patient’s appearance and self-image.

Crowns are made of a variety of materials, from silver and gold to synthetic materials such as strong plastic, porcelain and certain other metallic preparations. While stainless steel crowns are available to patients, they are not widely recommended by dentists in the UK. Check with your dental provider to see which material is recommended.

Care must be taken when performing a procedure which will include a crown at the treatment’s end. Precise measurement, while sometime tedious to the dentist as well as the patient, ensures a proper fit once the crown is prepared. Carefully chosen colour compatibility makes porcelain crowns appear undetectable in the patient’s mouth.

Understand that the crown prep procedure is one requiring extensive work to be sure that the crown is seated properly and the surrounding tissue is correctly prepared. This initial process may be accompanied by discomfort; let your dentist know about the discomfort and see if any medications are recommended to help you remain comfortable and relaxed. Staying relaxed is a key to the success of any dental work.

The crown process generally involves several visits to the dental office to ensure a perfect fit of the appliance and proper match of the chosen colours. You, as the patient, should be prepared to spend as much time as your skilled dentist recommends to ensure satisfaction with the end result. Your smile will thank you!
